Check A for line and court
l Cricket is a ball game
played by two teams of 11 players. It is played on a pitch with two
wickets played 22 yards apart. Each team bats in turn. And each team has
2 innings. The object of the batting side is to make runs, while the
bowling and fielding side tries to dismiss the batsmen. The winning team
is the one that scores more runs.
l A batsman can be dismissed (out) by being caught by the fielding team on
the full, having the wicket hit by the bowler while bowling, by being
run out by the fielding team whilst attempting a run, or by being LBW
(Leg Before Wicket) which means being hit whilst being in front of the
stumps off a bowl. The batter can also be stumped by the wicketkeeper
whilst the batter is out of their crease, or if the batter hits their
own wicket they can also be given out.
