High Jump
l
The high jump is made over a crossbar
between rigid uprights. The crossbar is raised after each round, and
competitors remain in the competition until eliminated by three
consecutive failures. Long Jump l Competitors leap from a
take-off board into a sand landing area. If there fewer than eight
competitors, each one generally has six trials; otherwise competitors
generally have three trials, and then the best eight competitors have a
further three. The competitor with the longest jump in their six trials is
the winner. A tie for first place is decided by the competitors' second
best jumps. Shot Put l The shot is put from a
circle and must land within the marked sector. The idea is to try and put
the shot as far as possible, whilst still landing it within the marked
sector. The competitor must start from a standing position. The hand with
the put starts near the ear and can not be dropped below its starting
position, or not brought in front of the line of the shoulders. After the
shot has been put, the competitor must stay within the circle until the
put has landed, and then exit through the rear of the circle. Relay Races
l Each of the four members
run one stage of the race. A baton is carried in the hand and transferred
in the change-over zone. The next competitor then performs the same
exercise until all four member have run their stage of the race. The first
team to complete the race is declared the winner.
